Disability Karate at the Kugatsu Karate-Do

At the Kugatsu Karate-Do, we provide different pathways into Karate designed to support the individual needs of our members who have a disability and / or other additional support needs.  Since 2017 we have been running  Disability Karate classes each week for our members with a disability and / or other additional support needs.  We currently run two classes for children (and their friends / siblings) and two classes for adults (and their parents / carers / friends).

At present, approximately 35% of our members have a disability  and / or other additional support needs.  Some only participate in our disability classes. some only participate in our mainstream class whilst others participate across all our classes.

The Kugatsu Karate-Do on the BBC Social

A few years ago, a reporter and camera crew asked to visit one of our adult disability classes to make a short video for the BBC Social to showcase our Disability Karate Classes and to promote the opportunities that Karate can provide for people with a disability and / or other additional support needs.

Enjoy.
