Staffordshire Bull Terriers

Karate Fun and SBT Fun take great pride in promoting a positive image of this very special and versatile breed.  The Staffordshire Bull Terrier (also known as Stafford, SBT, Staffy) was registered in the United Kingdom as a show breed in 1935.

The Stafford has become popular around the world for its courage and relationship with people, especially its affinity with children. In the United Kingdom, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier is affectionately nicknamed "The Nanny Dog."

The Stafford's tolerance of, and affection for, children is well known. However, it is never wise to put any puppy and child together without supervision. Children should be taught to respect dogs and rough play should be discouraged.

Staffordshire Bull Terriers are tough and robust and are rarely quick to react to pain or discomfort. This makes them likely to make allowances for the attentions of small children.

The Stafford is the only breed to have the words 'totally reliable' in its breed standard. Furthermore, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier is one of only two breeds from over 190 recognised by the UK Kennel Club to have a mention of the breed's suitability with children.
